Co-hosted by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China, the “2021 North Bund Forum” will take place from Nov 3 to 5, 2021 in Shanghai. As a key part of the forum, the first “North Bund International Aviation Forum” organized by China Eastern Air Holding Company Limited and Shanghai Airport Authority, will be held on Nov. 4 both online and offline. Themed on “The Sustainable Development of the Global Aviation Industry”, the forum will convene all the experts and representatives across the industry in Shanghai.
The “North Bund International Aviation Forum” aims to promote the sustainable development of the global aviation industry by strengthening communication and cooperation among the industry. It endeavors to give play to the aviation industry as a vital link in the global trade and further enhance the sound development of the world economy and trade. Meanwhile, it strives to build a multifunctional platform to enhance communication across the global aviation industry, publish the development and research achievements of the industry, and showcase the Shanghai International Shipping Center.
It’s reported that different sessions are arranged in the first “North Bund International Aviation Forum”. For instance, responsible personnel of the civil aviation organizations, renowned economists, and honored guests on behalf of aviation enterprises and airports will have a dialog on the “Cooperation and win-win situation on carbon emission reduction in the international aviation industry during the pandemic” and the “The path to global outstanding city clusters – the construction and improvement path of world-class aviation hubs”. During the dialog, they will share their insights into representative cases and related experiences. In addition, a round-table themed on the “Reshaping the global supply chain and its challenges” is set to discuss the development trend and transformation and upgrading direction of the logistics industry.
In addition to the “Aviation Forum”, the “North Bund Forum” includes the parallel sub-forum, “Global Shipping Forum”, and other thematic sessions on decarbonization, intelligence, security, legal affairs and financial insurance.
Shanghai has witnessed continuous growth as an international hub for sea/air cargo logistics after promoting the construction of the Shanghai International Shipping Center. In 2019, the Shanghai Airport carried more than 122 million passengers, ranking fourth in the world and shipped over 4.05 million tons of cargos and mails, ranking third in the world. The airport emerged as the first billion-class aviation hub in China and the world’s fifth billion-class aviation hub, trailing New York, Atlanta, London, and Tokyo. Meanwhile, Shanghai Pudong International Airport has secured the third position in the world for the cargo and mail throughput for 13 consecutive years. As the largest airline headquartered in Shanghai, China Eastern Airlines has a fleet of more than 750 aircraft. In 2019, it carried more than 131 million passengers, ranking seventh in the world.
